Hamad Medical Corp. has issued a statement regarding a deadly traffic accident in Al Khor this morning.
The statement confirms that there indeed were fatalities in a vehicle crash, but little else:
July 4, 2011: This morning (July 4) at approximately 6.30am a bus in which some Hamad Medical Corporation staff were travelling to Al Khor Hospital, was involved in a serious accident.
It is with regret we confirm that several HMC staff lost their lives in the accident.
A number of others are being treated for serious injuries at Al Khor Hospital and Hamad General Hospital.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the authorities.
HMC is in the process of contacting the families of those affected and will offer all assistance possible in this difficult time.
Management and staff of Hamad Medical Corporation extend their heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of those involved in the accident.
Sources on Twitter tell Doha News that the bus was carrying HMC nurses, that at least three people have died, including the driver, and that the scene in Al Khor was grim.

UPDATE (1:58 p.m.): Although still unconfirmed, sources now say that at least five people were killed in the accident, including a heavily pregnant Filipino nurse.
UPDATE (2:21 p.m.): An official source says four people have died, and 10 people are injured, ranging from critical to stable condition.
All the families of those involved have been informed.
