Despite rumors to the contrary, a new list published by the Philippines government banning deployment of overseas workers to certain countries does not include any Gulf nations.
Countries deemed to lack sufficient laws to protect Filipino workers include India, Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq and Pakistan, Arabian Business reports.
In September, media reports from the Philippines said the ban could include the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar because the government could not guarantee protection of its workers.
However, Filipino maids are still subject to a separate ban from Saudi Arabia after the kingdom said it was seeking new sources for foreign workers.
