The family of the five-year-old boy who died this week after falling into an open manhole in Abu Hamour is holding a funeral prayer (janazah) for him today (Wednesday) at 5pm.
A family friend told Doha News that the prayers will be held at the mosque outside of Hamad’s Women’s Hospital. The family will then return to India to bury their son, Fahim Sirajudeen, in their home state of Tamil Nadu.
Fahim was walking with his family last week when he fell into a partially uncovered manhole near the fish market. He was rescued after 10 to 15 minutes, but had been submerged underwater during that time, and was declared brain dead at the hospital.
He died of heart failure on Monday night, sparking outcry from residents here about the need to shore up safety in Qatar.
