Four ways to keep your car from turning into an oven this summer
Tuesday’s Gulf News had some helpful tips on keeping your car cool during the searing summer months.
Here are some of them:
- Never immediately enter your car when it is very hot. Wait a minute or so for all the poisonous gases and carbon dioxide to dissipate once you open the doors.
- Use a sun visor to keep the sun’s rays from turning your steering wheel into an instrument of torture.
- Consider outfitting leather seats, which can take two hours to cool to room temperature, with cotton seat covers to prevent the leather from heating up.
- Keep your windows down by about 6cm so that air can circulate while your car is parked.
Of course, if your car gets hot enough, you can always bake cookies in it…
