Yesterday evening, City Center posted on its Facebook wall that it will be closed indefinitely until it meets the safety and health regulations set forth by the government.
Up until that point, employees and managers there had been telling local media that the mall, which closed on Friday, would re-open within days.
That leaves two of Qatar’s biggest shopping centers (including Villaggio) – and movie theaters – out of commission for the foreseeable future.
And with Landmark’s cinema closed as well, that means movie-going has gotten much more difficult.
On the other hand, many residents say they are pleased that Qatar is taking measures to ensure safety following last month’s deadly fire.
