Children of Gaza exhibit opens tonight
A new exhibit depicting the traumatic experiences and resilience of Palestinian children is now on display at Virginia Commonwealth University of Qatar.
The exhibit, which kicks off with a public reception tonight at 6:30pm, runs until Dec. 3 and features the work of artists Giuseppe Aquili, Jim McFarlane, Anthony Dawton and Dia Azzawi.
Gulf Times reports:
For about a fortnight, the award-winning photographers captured children and their families, victims of the Israeli incursion of December 27, 2008.
The images tell the stories of what happened and the damage done, both physically and psychologically but they also tell of a people, and in particular the children, who are bright, intelligent and full of hope.
Works from the exhibition, which is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be available for sale and proceeds will go to Save the Children projects in Gaza.
