Blackberry users in Qatar and across the region have been experiencing “service interruptions” because of technical glitches from BB manufacturer RIM, Qtel has said.
The country’s largest service provider responded to a flurry of tweets complaining about the outages yesterday, saying:
Dear Customer please be informed that you may experience BB service interruptions,

due to service issues from the manufactures of Blackberry (RIM)

Vodafone BB users also complained of service problems, which included an inability to access BBM and a delay in the sending and receiving of messages.
The National reports:
“Customers may also be unable to create new accounts, add (integrate) third-party email accounts, or use BlackBerry subscriber web sites.
BlackBerry Enterprise Servers may be unable to connect to the BlackBerry Infrastructure. Wireless service providers and device resellers may experience delays in using BlackBerry administration web sites, creating subscriber accounts, or provisioning services for subscribers.
A RIM spokesman said the company will issue a statement about the problem today.
This is the second outage BB users have experienced in the past eight months.
In October, millions of BB users across the Middle East, Europe and Asia temporarily lost web and messaging services due to a network breakdown. Â
