The Ministry of Interior did eventually update English-speaking resident about yesterday’s fire in Al Saleya:
Civil Defence contained a fire outbreak in cabins and wooden houses of workers at a farm in Al-Silia without any casualties two hours ago.

The area in which the fire broke out could have contained flammable materials because:

According to MOI’s Arabic Twitter account, the fire broke out in a farm area in Al-Saleya:

The smoke, which was seen as early as 2:45pm, seems to be finally abating. On Facebook, Susana Awad Yassin writes:
Fire under control. No more heavy smoke. Slowly fading. Can see from my house.

The origins of the fire are in dispute. Here are some of the reports:

A fire appears to have broken out in/near the Industrial Area on Monday afternoon, with plumes of black smoke visible as far as West Bay.
There are reports that police and Civil Defense were making their way to the scene.
Anyone know more?
