Three people have been killed and dozens more injured in road accidents caused by low visibility during yesterday’s dust storm, media reports state.
The high winds and swirling sand will continue to torture residents this weekend, with Qatar’s Meteorology Department forecasting no relief through Saturday, QNA has said.
Gulf Times reports on yesterday’s traffic accidents:
Most of the road accidents occurred in northern Qatar. Two Bangladesh nationals and a Sudanese were killed when a Karwa taxi car, in which they were travelling, collided with another vehicle on Al Khor- Doha road.
In another accident in Al Khor, where a number of labour camps are located, there was a pile-up involving seven vehicles, including a water tanker and two or three pick-ups.
Falling debris and uprooted trees also tested the patience of those anticipating the weekend, only to be disappointed with the government’s advisory to stay indoors if at all possible.
For those who do venture out, here is a handy list of ways to protect yourself during dusty conditions.
Has the weather caused you to change your weekend plans?
