Arabs leaders convene in Qatar for emergency meeting to discuss Syria today

Arab foreign ministers are in Qatar for an emergency meeting to discuss the worsening situation in Syria.

The talks follow intensive discussions between Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jaber and the foreign ministers of Kuwait, Iraq and Egypt.

This morning, Al Jazeera reported that Syrian troops had pushed into a rebel-held district of Aleppo.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon has said that Assad’s government must stop “the killing and the use of heavy weapons” against population centres in the country.
