UPDATE | Nov. 21: 9:37am
A suspect who was arrested in connection with last week’s murder of a 40-year-old American teacher has confessed to the crime, the victim’s employer has said.
“We’re so heartbroken,” Judith Drotar, the director of English Modern School, told Doha News in an interview this morning.
“We’re waiting desperately to go to court. We’re praying that justice will be served.”
She added that the crime took place in the teacher’s home, not at school.
The teacher, whose name has not been released, taught at EMS’s new Wakra campus. She is survived by her parents, who are not based in Qatar.

A female American teacher was reportedly murdered in Doha last week, sources have told Doha News.
No details about what happened to the woman are immediately available. Doha News has been told that she was a teacher at English Modern School, but a secretary there said she could not confirm or deny the incident.
A spokesman for the US Embassy in Qatar confirmed that a US citizen was killed in Doha last week, but said he could not provide further information.
“The embassy is in contact with the family and providing consular assistance and support,” he added.
A Ministry of Interior spokesman declined to comment on the matter.
Did you know the teacher? Does anyone know more?
