Qatar will open its second farmer’s market branch in Al Khor this Thursday, Jan. 9.
The Al Khor and Al-Dhakira Yard will keep the same hours as Mazrourah Yard, the main market that opened for its second season last month.
The markets are open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 7am to 5pm, and sell fresh produce straight from Qatar’s farms.
Diversifying
This year, Mazrouah, which is located near the Umm Salal Sports Club on Al Shamal Expressway, also began selling local cattle, poultry and fish.
According to the Ministry of Environment, the market’s prices are lower than the cost of produce in both supermarkets and at the Central Market, because the farmers are selling their wares without a middleman.
Have you visited the market this year? Thoughts?
