Sheikh Nasser succeeds Dr Mostefa Souag, who served in the role for the past 12 years
Al Jazeera Media Network announced on Monday, 1 September 2025, the appointment of Sheikh Nasser bin Faisal bin Khalifa Al-Thani as its new Director General.
Sheikh Nasser, a graduate of Qatar University, brings experience from several organisations, including a four-year tenure at Barwa Real Estate.
In 2013, he joined Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he held multiple positions and eventually rose to the rank of Ambassador.
Sheikh Nasser will be succeeding Dr Mostefa Souag, who served in the role for the past twelve years.
As the new Director General, Sheikh Nasser will oversee a network that has seen significant achievements in recent years across multiple media platforms.
This leadership change comes as the Al Jazeera aims to strengthen its strategic direction and operations to adapt to the evolving media landscape, while continuing to lead both regionally and internationally.
