Qatar Charity has announced four projects which will run throughout Ramadan.
For the the first time, the charity will be working with underpriveleged families to help them produce ifthar meals for distribution in their community. The project, which is called “Good for you”, aims to equip these families with skills that will allow them to make money from the meals. The families are being given training and support from the Ministry of Social Affairs.Â
“QC’s Ramadan projects aim at boosting solidarity within the society and to alleviate the burden on families that are not well-off. We want to reach out to as many people as possible, but we are limited by the funds we already have”. Mohamed al-Ghamdi, executive director of local development department at QC.Â
The “Supplies of Ramadan” project will deliver food parcels containing basic food items such as flour and rice to 17,500 needy people across the country. The “Your breakfast is on us” project will deliver the meal directly to the doors of 18,000 families.Â
Finally, the “Drinks for worshippers” project will deliver free bottles of water to mosques after Taraweeh prayers. The bottles will carry messages reminding people of what a precious resource water is around the world.Â
The charity aims to reach out to 74,000 people during the holy month.Â
Families wishing to benefit from any of these programmes should call Qatar Charity on 44667711.
