As Qatar’s expansion continues at a relentless pace, new roads are being laid almost daily.
This means the government’s road naming committee has quite a task keeping up with the country’s development.
To this end, 2800 new streets in eight different areas of Qatar have just been named by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, the Qatar Tribune reports.
When the road naming committee was established in 2010, the government said that new names would be proposed by senior officials from various government agencies, and then assessed by the committee to see if they were suitable, taking into account Qatari culture and local environment.
We contacted the Ministry, but they were unable to immediately provide us with details of the location of the new streets, and their new names.
We’re quite curious to know what they’ve been called. Do you live on a newly-named street?
