Officials in Qatar are working to increase the country’s 1,200 visa quota for Hajj after a whopping 18,400 people applied to perform the pilgrimage, an official at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has said.
Saudi Arabia has restricted visas in recent years because of ongoing construction in Makkah. Applicants who get selected will get a text message and have one week to register with a Hajj group, or miss out on the opportunity, the Peninsula reports.
