Mostafa Asal and Nouran Gohar will lead the star-studded lineup at the QTerminals Qatar Classic 2025 in Doha, with the 22nd edition of the PSA Platinum event featuring 64 top-ranked players, including Qatar’s Abdulla Al-Tamimi.
World number one squash players Mostafa Asal and Nouran Gohar will headline the QTerminals Qatar Classic 2025, the Professional Squash Association confirmed.
The 22nd edition of Qatar’s premier tournament, the first Platinum event on the PSA 2025/26 Tour, will be held from September 28 to October 4 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex and feature 64 of the world’s leading squash players.
Reigning World Champion Asal will look to avenge last year’s finale defeat and win his maiden title in Doha. He will also seek to carry his form from the previous tour, having dominated the season with seven titles and just six losses.
One of those defeats came against Peru’s Diego Elias, last year’s champion. In an incredible run, the 28-year-old defeated then-world number one Ali Farag and Asal — nicknamed The Raging Bull — in successive fixtures.
Elias will start the 2025 edition on the other side of the draw as the tournament’s second seed and will be seeking his third title in Doha, his first coming in 2021.
Abdulla Al-Tamimi will lead Qatar’s hopes in what will be his tenth competition at home, flanked by wildcard entrants Ali Al-Darwish and Salem Al-Malki.
Other prominent stars include experienced Welshman Joel Makin, two-time junior World Champion Joel Makin, tenth-ranked Youssef Ibrahim, and brothers Mohamed and Marwan ElShorbagy, among others.
In the women’s draw, opposite Gohar will be fellow Egyptian and reigning world number two Nour El Sherbini. The two contested in last year’s intense finale, where El Sherbini plotted a comeback to secure the previously missing trophy in her cabinet.
This year, Gohar will face British leader Georgina Kennedy in the opener and might have to face fourth-ranked Olivia Weaver of the U.S. en route to the finale.
El Sherbini, meanwhile, could face world number three Hania El-Hammamy in the semi-finals if both Egyptians manage to progress.
Three-time World Junior Champion Amina Orfi, Japan’s Satomi Watanabe, and Belgian number one Tinne Gilis will also contest in this year’s competition.
