Starting on Sunday, July 20, the country is expected to see a new wave of strong northwesterly winds, reaching speeds of up to 40 knots (74km/h) by Tuesday and Wednesday, the Qatar Meteorology Department has said.
In a statement, the MET continued:
“The strong NW’LY wind will be accompanied by dusty weather at times decreasing the horizontal visibility less than 2km at places especially in open area and high ways.”
According to Steff Gaulter, senior meteorologist at Al Jazeera English, the weather could become windier and dustier as early as tomorrow (Saturday).
While dust-storm like conditions are expected to ease on Sunday, “winds will stay strong all week,” she told Doha News.
And in more unwelcome news, temperatures are also expected to climb this week, going from 42C (108F) today to 46C (115F) by Tuesday, according to Weather.com.
