Temperatures are expected to spike briefly over the next few days as Qatar is set to receive rain showers in certain parts of the country, the Meteorology Department has said.
Sunday and Monday are expected to see highs of 22 to 24C (75F), but a cold spell is expected to move in on Tuesday, the MET said in a statement.
At that time, temperatures could fall to as low as 8C (46F) in some parts of the country, though in Doha the minimum appears to be closer to 13C (55F), according to weather.com.
In advance of the falling temperatures, the Ministry of Interior has released some advice about operating space heaters safely, which you can view here.
Precipitation forecast
Meanwhile, don’t wash your car yet! Speaking to Doha News, Steff Gaulter, senior meteorologist at Al Jazeera English, said rain looks likely to hit Doha on Monday – “proper showers,” rather than the sprinkles seen earlier in the week.
On Twitter, she adds that the precipitation could begin tomorrow night:
Happy New Year! Hope u all enjoyed the rain in #Doha! Looks like there'll be more on Sunday night and Monday
