One of Qatar’s favorite eateries is about to open an international outpost in the heart of central London.
Gourmet burger company Burgeri, which has its main branch in Aspire Park and a roving yellow food truck, is eyeing a summer launch for its first restaurant outside of the country.
The new London branch will be at 22 Great Marlborough St., just yards from Oxford Circus and opposite upmarket department store Liberty.
The location is on the edge of the UK capital’s buzzing Soho district, well-known for its restaurants, bars and colorful nightlife.
Preparations are underway to open the Burgeri branch “after July,” a spokesman for Aspire Katara Hospitality told Doha News.
‘Trendy dining’
The outlet will be “a flagship in London, serving quality meat in a very trendy dining atmosphere,” the spokesman said, adding that the burgers sold will be halal and slaughtered in accordance with Islamic principles.
Burgeri’s website has been teasing the opening of a London outpost for some time, although so far hasn’t published any details online of the new branch.
However, a preview of the new eatery features on the website of UK restaurant and venues guide Square Meal.
It will join another Qatar favorite, Chapati & Karak, which launched its first London branch on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge in early 2014.
Its location, directly opposite Qatar-owned Harrods department store, has made it particularly popular with Gulf tourists who head to London during the long summer vacation.
Both brands are owned by Aspire Katara Hospitality, which also runs Katara-based L’wzaar seafood restaurant and Sukar Pasha Ottoman Lounge.
After the successful launch of Burgeri in Aspire Park in 2013, the Burgeri food truck started touring Qatar last September, selling burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes and cheesecake.
The distinctive vintage yellow truck travels to different locations in the country, usually on the weekends, and advertises its next venue through social media.
