The establishment of the strategy was announced on the first anniversary of Qatar’s National Planning Council.
Qatar’s National Planning Council (NPC) has officially launched the National Data and Statistics Strategy, marking the first anniversary of the council’s establishment. The initiative aims to strengthen the nation’s data infrastructure and align with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
“The National Data and Statistics Strategy is a proactive step that strengthens Qatar’s leadership and future preparedness,” said NPC Secretary General Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa during his keynote address.
“At the heart of the Third National Development Strategy is Qatar’s readiness for the future, which includes anticipating global trends, embracing change, and adopting cutting-edge, data-driven technologies such as artificial intelligence,” he added.
The strategy outlines a comprehensive vision for advancing Qatar’s national data and statistics agenda, aiming to integrate multiple sectors and deliver accurate, reliable information critical to planning and development efforts.
“The National Data and Statistics Strategy is a proactive step that strengthens Qatar’s leadership and future preparedness,” the Secretary General elucidated.
The strategy promotes innovation by empowering national companies to develop smart solutions and harness emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and advanced analytics.
Al Khalifa highlighted key components of the initiative, including the launch of the National Data Program and the introduction of regulatory frameworks like the National Data Policy, National Data Standards, and a national guide for data governance.
He also unveiled the Qatar Data Trust Index, a first-of-its-kind tool to gauge public trust in data by measuring quality and compliance with national standards.
As part of the central database initiative, Al Khalifa announced the rollout of the QInsights platform, which will feature 119 indicators identified by the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment.
A central pillar of the strategy is the establishment of the National Statistics Center within the NPC. The centre will serve as the official source of national statistics and lead efforts to build a comprehensive statistical database to support Qatar’s data needs.
