Temperatures are expected to climb to what feels like a searing 37C (99F) this weekend, as winter officially departs, a forecaster at the Qatar Meteorology Department has said.
Today’s high will be 35C (95F), and the coming week will see the thermometer hit the high 30s. “It’s the beginning of summer,” the forecaster told Doha News.
On Twitter, Steff Gaulter, senior meteorologist for Al Jazeera English, added:
Top temperature in #Doha today is 30C, but getting hotter over the next few days. 36C will be the max on Friday.

However, there will still be relief in the evenings, with temps cooling down to around 21C (70F).
The weather is a marked change from what Qatar residents have seen over the past few weeks, with sandstorms, lightning shows and flooding due to heavy rain.
How are you feeling about the heat? Will it affect your weekend plans?
