Qatar’s national football team is up against some tough competitors as it attempts to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, its coach has said. Following yesterday’s draw, the team is in Group A with South Korea, Iran, China, Uzbekistan and Syria. Group B consists of Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq and Thailand.
The top two teams of each group automatically heads to the World Cup, while the two third-place teams will face off for the last spot. Qualifying matches begin in September and conclude a year later in fall 2017.
