Qatar condemned Iran’s attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City, saying the strike caused fires that resulted in severe damage to the facility on Wednesday evening.
Qatar condemned Iran’s attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City, which it said “caused fires resulting in severe damage to the facility” and is considered “a serious escalation, a blatant violation of the state’s sovereignty, and a direct threat to its national security and regional stability.”
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that “despite Qatar distancing itself from this war since its beginning, and its keenness not to engage in any escalation, the Iranian side insists on targeting it and neighbouring countries, in an irresponsible approach that undermines regional security and threatens international peace.”
The ministry added that Qatar has repeatedly called for the protection of civilian and energy facilities across the region, including in Iran, to preserve regional stability and international peace.
Despite these calls, it said, Iran continued its escalation policies, pushing the region toward wider conflict and involving countries not party to the crisis.
Qatar stated that the attack breaches the UN Security Council Resolution 2817 and urged the council to take measures to stop such violations and hold the perpetrators accountable.
The ministry also affirmed that Qatar reserves the right to respond and will take all necessary actions to protect its sovereignty, security and the safety of its citizens and residents.
