Qatar reaffirmed its right to respond to Iranian attacks while stressing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate and reviewing key national and international matters.
Qatar has reaffirmed its full right to respond and defend its sovereignty, security and the safety of its people, while reiterating its condemnation of recent Iranian attacks on its territory during a weekly cabinet meeting at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday.
The meeting was chaired by Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
The cabinet stressed that the Iranian strikes constitute a serious violation of international law and Qatar’s territorial integrity.
As the U.S.-Israel war on Iran continues, Qatar has been targeted by missile and drone attacks on military and critical infrastructure, including energy facilities.
While reaffirming its commitment to diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in coordination with regional and international partners, the cabinet said Qatar reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect national security.
The meeting also expressed condolences to the families of seven people killed in a helicopter crash during a routine operation on Sunday.
The victims included members of the Qatar Armed Forces, the Qatari Turkish Joint Forces, and Turkish civilian personnel. The crash was caused by a technical malfunction, according to official reports.
The cabinet also reviewed key strategic reports, including the Qatar Financial Centre Strategy 2024 to 2030 and the 2025 annual report of the coordination committee for the protection of Qatar Rail facilities.
It further examined Qatar’s recent international engagements, including participation in the 355th session of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization in Geneva, the 38th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Transport, and the sixth Smart Transport, Logistics and Industry Forum.
