The “coldest” month of the year in Qatar has officially begun, according to local meteorologists who say a new period of unstable weather will commence tomorrow.
In a statement, the Qatar Meteorology Department (MET) said light rain showers are expected to sprinkle over the country on Saturday morning.
It added that strong northwesterly winds of up to 35 knots (65km/hour) will sweep Qatar tomorrow night, dropping temperatures considerably.
While temps will hit 25C (77F) today, expect them to go no higher than 18-20C (65-68F) from Saturday to Tuesday.
During those days, minimum temperatures will hover around 12-15C (54-59F), forecasters said.
It will be even colder in open areas and in the southern part of the country, the MET added.
Winter season
January is typically the coolest month of the year in Qatar, and a time of thunderstorms and windy weather, according to the MET.

However, last year, Qatar recorded some of its highest temperatures ever for January with a high of 32.4C (90F), following a worldwide trend of warmer weather in 2015.
Fingers crossed that this January ends on a cool note! Thoughts?
