MANAMA: Qatar and Bahrain played out a goalless draw in their Group E match in the third round of the 2014 World Cup Asian Zone qualification at the National Stadium here on Friday.
Qatar, though began on a shaky note, gained a slight control of the game as the first half wore on. Sebastian Soria, who played a good game overall, came close on a couple of occasions, but narrowly missed the target.
Bahrain were without several key players, who were detained (during the recent turmoil), but they came closer in the 80th minute when Mohammed Abdulrahman headed on to the crossbar following an Abdullah Omar cross from the right.
Qatar will now host Iran at the Al Sadd Stadium in Doha on Tuesday while Bahrain will travel to Indonesia.
