Qatar’s Ministry of Social Development and Family will host the inaugural Rawda Award ceremony on Sunday to honour outstanding social initiatives.
Under the patronage of Qatar’s Amir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Ministry of Social Development and Family will host the inaugural Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work ceremony on Sunday, recognising outstanding social initiatives across the country.
The award, established by Amiri Decision No. 16 of 2025, is the first national prize dedicated to social work in Qatar.
It aims to honour impactful and sustainable initiatives across five categories – individuals, families, non-profit organisations, the private sector, and media.
Organised under the Ministry of Social Development and Family, the award is held in strategic partnership with the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund.
The board of trustees is chaired by Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family.
The ministry said the award was designed to promote a culture of social responsibility, encourage innovation in community work, and support initiatives that contribute to Qatar’s National Vision 2030, particularly in human and social development.
Officials said the award framework aligned with national strategies and emphasised a shift from welfare to empowerment, while ensuring transparency and fairness through structured evaluation and governance processes.
Buthaina Al Nuaimi said the award reflects Qatar’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve quality of life and create sustainable social impact.
She described it as a platform to showcase inspiring experiences, foster innovation, and expand the reach of successful initiatives.
Khalifa bin Issa Al Kubaisi, Assistant Undersecretary at the ministry and deputy chair of the board of trustees, said the ceremony marked the culmination of a comprehensive national effort built on recognition, encouragement, and rigorous evaluation standards.
Abdulaziz Ibrahim Al Ishaq, CEO of the Rawda Award, said the initiative had undergone extensive preparation, including the development of governance frameworks and multi-stage evaluation processes to select winners.
The ministry added that the award also sought to strengthen partnerships between government entities, the private sector, civil society, and media, in order to expand its impact and promote excellence in social work nationwide.
