It looks like sweater weather officially begins next week for Qatar residents, as temperatures across the country are expected to fall to as low as 10C (50F) on Sunday, the Meteorology Department has said.
The first cold front of the season, which is forecast to run through Wednesday (National Day), is being caused by an extension of high pressure over the Gulf, combined with a cold air mass, the MET said in a statement on its website.
During the upcoming week, highs will be in the low 20Cs (low 70F), and minimum temperatures will fall to the low 10Cs (50F), the MET added.
A strong winds warning will also be in effect from Sunday, Dec. 15 to National Day, with seagoers being warned to express caution during that time.
According to Steff Gaulter, senior meteorologist at Al Jazeera English:
There are usually a few days with temperatures like this every December…December 2006 was a cold one though, with a maximum of 15C and minimum of 9C. At least it’s not that bad!
Are you ready for the chill? Thoughts?
