The General Command of the Armed Forces has instructed residents in southern Qatar to be “cautious for their own safety” as the marine shooting range practices with live ammunition from Dec. 25 to Dec. 31.
According to QNA, the location is about 40km east of Mesaieed, near Fasht Al Hadid.

The shooting is scheduled to take place between 6am and 1pm, but in the past has apparently been heard earlier than that.
Last year for example, a Mesaieed resident reported being woken up at 3am by “a thunderous sound which was loud and terrifying.”

These military exercises happen frequently and there is always a warning in the newspapers similar to this. I don’t understand why is DN reporting this one particularly. Slow day?
