- Mid-term exams in Qatar have been rescheduled to April 12–21 in light of the current situation, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced.

New Zealand PM condemns Iranian aggression in call with Qatar’s Amir
Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received a phone call on Thursday from New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, who enquired about developments in Qatar amid ongoing Iranian aggression.
Luxon condemned the attacks on Qatar and the wider region and praised Doha’s leadership and actions to protect all residents, including New Zealand’s citizens.
Both sides also emphasised the need for immediate de‑escalation and to resolve tensions through dialogue and diplomacy.
Mid-term exams rescheduled to April 12–21
Mid-term exams for the second semester for grades 1 to 11 will now take place from 12 April to 21 April 2026, Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced on X on Thursday.
The change has been made in light of current developments and to ensure appropriate conditions for students to sit their exams. The ministry said detailed exam schedules would be announced later.
MOD: Qatar’s armed forces intercept a missile attack
Qatar’s Ministry of Defence (MOD) announced that the armed forces intercepted a missile attack which targeted the country on Thursday.
Qatar Public Safety Alert: Threat eliminated
Qatar’s residents received a Public Safety Alert around 10 minutes after a National Emergency Alert at 1:40 pm on Thursday, confirming that the earlier elevated security threat had been eliminated.
Qatar’s interior minister and Lekhwiya commander receives calls and messages from officials
Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, received phone calls and messages on Thursday from Gulf ministers and other international officials.
According to Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, the calls focused on strengthening joint security coordination and unifying efforts to confront any threat that could affect the region’s security and stability.
Officials who sent messages also expressed their solidarity with Qatar.
Iran’s president outlines conditions for ending the war
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has outlined three key conditions for ending the war after talks with Russia and Pakistan.
The conditions included the recognition of Iran’s “legitimate rights”, payment of compensation, and strong international guarantees to prevent future attacks.
“Talking to leaders of Russia and Pakistan, I reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace in the region. The only way to end this war—ignited by the Zionist regime and the U.S.—is recognising Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm international guarantees against future aggression,” he said.
Qatar condemns Iranian attack on Oman’s port of Salalah
Qatar condemned the Iranian drone attack that targeted the port of Salalah in Oman on Wednesday, which caused damage to several fuel tanks at the site.
In a statement on Thursday, Qatar’s foreign ministry said it considered the attack “a blatant act of aggression and a flagrant violation of international law and its principles”.
“Targeting the Sultanate of Oman, following its tireless efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, is an unacceptable attack on its role as a mediator and its efforts to promote calm,” the statement said.
“The Ministry reiterates the State of Qatar’s full solidarity with the Sultanate of Oman and its support for all measures taken by the Sultanate to preserve its sovereignty, security, and stability,” it added.
