Italian football giants Juventus and AC Milan will face off in Qatar on Dec. 23 for the 2016 Supercoppa TIM.
Each year, the winners of the Serie A and the Coppa Italia typically face off a week before their season begins in Italy.
However, Juventus won both competitions last season, so Milan will play as the Coppa’s runner-up.
Doha, which hosted the Super Cup in 2014, apparently beat out several other cities for hosting rights to this year’s pre-season football competition.

‘Thousands of fans’ expected
In a statement, both clubs said they were “impressed by previous matches in which they have participated in Qatar and were keen in returning for yet another official competition.”
Qatar Football Association (QFA) President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani added:
“Our strong ties with Italian Football are proportional to our commitment to organize world class events for the global football family.
We are eager to see Juventus and AC Milan, two global powerhouses return to Doha and compete for the Supercoppa TIM in front of thousands of fans from around the world.”
The 2014 tournament was held at the Jassim bin Hamad (Al Sadd) stadium, but no information about this year’s venue or ticket sales are on QFA’s website yet.
We’ll keep you posted once the details come in. Thoughts?
