Nish Patel, executive director of Hamad Medical Corp., which has seen a 7% increase in the number of babies born in its hospital this year.

According to him, in February, the hospital witnessed high rate of births on three different days recording over 60 on each day as against the regular over 40 seen on a daily basis.
To further cope with the increase in number of babies being born at the hospital, the official said: “We now have a lot of focus on the new Women’s Hospital coming up at the Medical City (in 2013) because of so much planning that needs to be done as it will be very different from the way we do things here.”
He explained that the new hospital will rely a lot on automation as there will be baby nurseries and every room will be a private room.
