LeBron James fans in Qatar will soon have the opportunity to buy his and other basketball stars’ memorabilia when NBA opens it first official store here.
As part of a new partnership between the US-based National Basketball Association and Al Mana Fashion Group, Doha will see two NBA merchandise stores open during the 2016-2017 season.
These will be the first in the region.
In a statement, the NBA said that additional shops in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are also planned.
Currently, Qatar fans can buy things like jerseys, t-shirts, hats and shoes from the online EU store.
But rising demand signaled that a local storefront was needed, Andrew Fairall, general manager of Al Mana Fashion Group’s sports division, said in a statement:
“With basketball being one of the fastest growing categories in sports retail in the region, we are very excited to be working with such an iconic brand as we build an exciting new chapter in our illustrious legacy in the Middle East.”
