As residents across Qatar woke up to the pitter patter of rain on their windows and patios, some worried about the traffic. Others, about their hair.
But mostly, many seemed happy to trade the usual dusty, hot conditions for cooler and more refreshing weather.

Whether that elation lasts, however, remains to be seen. The Qatar Meteorology Department (MET) is forecasting moderate to heavy rain for the next three days, including thunderstorms by midday today.
Road caution
In Qatar, that usually means flooding on the roads, and more accidents because it takes longer to brake on wet pavement.
Authorities are advising motorists to proceed carefully, and be sure to leave extra space between vehicles to ensure safety:

Steff Gaulter, senior meteorologist at Al Jazeera English, added yesterday that motorists should also allot more time for their journeys this week.
