CMC: Government should reclaim Qataris’ undeveloped land
Undeveloped plots of land gifted to Qataris by the government serve only as a “dumping ground” and “shelter for insects and rats” and should be reclaimed, a Central Municipal Council member has said.
If the land is not developed within a given timeframe, the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning should pass a law that allows the government to take it back, a CMC proposal tabled by Mohammed bin Saleh Al Khayarain states.
The Peninsula reports:
The Council has also asked the ministry to make a list of all such undeveloped plots and issue a warning to their owners to start developing them as per the rules and regulations. These plots include those given to individuals, ministries and other government organizations.
