Al Sadd’s Baghdad Bounedjah was the man of the match at the AFC Champions League face-off against Jordan’s Al-Faisaly on Monday after firing a hat-trick in a dominating 6-0 win.
The Qatari squad needed the win to avoid elimination at the AFC Champions League stage and now boasts four points from a win, a loss, and a draw.
The Bruno Miguel’s side saw Bounedjah open with a goal in the eighth minute of the match after a header from a Mohammed Waad cross.
In the second half, Bounedjah netted the second goal in the 50th minute, followed by Gonzalo Plata with the third in the 51st minute. A minute later, substitute Mustafa Tarek extended the lead to 4-0.
Bounedjah carved his name on the pitch as he nailed his third and final goal in the 64th minute, with Yousuf Abdurisag securing the sixth goal in the 83rd minute.
Jordan’s Al Faisaly appeared absent on both defence and offence as they only struck two attempts at the goal. The two will be play on November 6 for the second leg.
