Many Qatar residents are reveling in the rain, lightning and thunder that has been rippling across the country last night and this morning.
On social media, the precipitation has spurred the usual jokes about rain in the desert, and also stirred up some nostalgia:
heavy rain in Doha this morning = free shower for my dust-covered car!

You wouldn’t think an office in the middle of the desert would have a problem with a leaky roof. Desk soaked with rain. #43HoursToHoliday

Speaking to Doha News, Steff Gaulter, senior meteorologist at Al Jazeera English, said the skies are expected to clear up this evening.
She continued: “Then we’ll return to our usual sunshine for tomorrow and the rest of the week.”
That translates into a high of 26C (78F) today, according to Weather.com – but a jump in temperatures to 31C by Saturday (88F).
Enjoy the weather while you can! Thoughts?
