Weekend weather in Qatar to be less sticky, but hotter

As the weekend gets underway in Qatar, those who venture outdoors should expect today to be a little less humid than earlier in the week.

But it appears that we’re exchanging falling dampness levels for higher heat. According to Steff Gaulter, senior meteorologist at Al Jazeera English:

Gaulter told Doha News that the humidity has been caused by winds coming in from the east. But on the Thursday, they turned northwesterly.

“The air is less humid, and drier air is easier to heat than humid air, so it’ll get hotter,” she said.

Temperatures are expected to hit at least 41C (106F) today and a low of 30C (86F), according to the Qatar Meteorology Department. A forecaster there told Doha News today that a light humidity (from 25 to 65 percent) will persist over the weekend, but improve by Sunday.

But Weather.com forecasts a spike tomorrow, with a high of 44C (112F) – temperatures that are expected to continue throughout the week.
