Our friends over at The Film House put this video together showing the best of Qatar National Day celebrations in years past.
If you haven’t witnessed QND before, this will give you an idea of what to expect.
Showcased in it is everything from the morning military and public services parade, to the throngs of residents out to enjoy the festivities, to the nighttime outpouring of revelry on the Corniche (and elsewhere in Doha).
To be fair, the video doesn’t touch on everything – such as the frustrations some residents feel after finding themselves caught in hours of gridlocked traffic, or the dejection of those turned away from the morning parade grounds for not being with women or children, or people who simply weren’t expecting to get sprayed by foam.
But what it does capture is the idea that Qatar’s nationals and myriad expatriate communities can come together for one day to celebrate the country we all live in.
