This weekend is set to start out stormy, with high winds and rain forecast for Thursday night and Friday, the Qatar Meteorology Department (Met) has said.
Scattered rain was previously forecast for today and tomorrow (Apr. 6), but earlier today the Qatar Met said those are less likely now, although that there is a chance of light rain tomorrow night.

On its online forecast, the Met predicts thunder, rain and strong winds by Thursday evening, with wind speeds set to reach up to 30 knots (56km/hour) in some parts of the country.
It has also issued a warning to avoid taking part in sea-going activities during the thunder storms.
A map issued by the forecasters shows a model of how the clouds are set to move across Qatar in the coming days.

Despite the wet and blustery conditions predicted, temperatures are set to be average for this time of year, with a maximum of 29-32C and lows of 19-22C.
During March, temperatures in Qatar were slightly higher (0.5C to 1C) than the seasonal average, and this trend is set to continue through April and May, according to a long range forecast on the Met’s website.
