The High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution gathered world officials to push for a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue.
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held high-level meetings with senior officials from France and Lebanon, on the sidelines of the UN Conference on Palestine.
The High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution was held on July 28 at the UN headquarters in New York.

In a significant bilateral exchange, Sheikh Mohammed met with French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noel Barrot.
According to Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussion focused on enhancing the close “cooperation relations between the two countries, developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as ways to advance international efforts to resolve the Palestinian cause through peaceful means and the implementation of the two-state solution”.
The prime minister reiterated Qatar’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, stressing that Doha would continue to advocate for a just and lasting solution.
He also expressed appreciation for France’s initiative in co-organising the conference alongside Saudi Arabia, and welcomed President Emmanuel Macron’s recent announcement signalling France’s intention to recognise the State of Palestine.

Continuing Qatar’s active role in regional diplomacy, Sheikh Mohammed also met with Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister, Tarek Mitri.
The meeting addressed the close ties between the two nations and reviewed Qatar’s ongoing support for Lebanon.
According to MoFA, discussions also centred on “cooperation relations between the two countries, the State of Qatar’s efforts in supporting Lebanon, developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as ways to advance international efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue by peaceful means and implement the two-state solution”.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, held two separate diplomatic consultations.
One of the meetings was with Hamish Falconer, the UK’s Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East and North Africa at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
The interaction provided an opportunity to assess bilateral ties between Qatar and the UK, review developments in the Palestinian territories, and explore ways to strengthen collective action toward a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue, according to Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
They also discussed key regional and international developments.

In another high-level meeting, Al Khulaifi held talks with Monika Schmutz Kirgoz, State Secretary at Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
The two officials exchanged views on deepening cooperation between Qatar and Switzerland and the importance of reinforcing global efforts aimed at resolving the Palestinian issue through peaceful dialogue, Qatar’s MoFA stated.
The meeting also covered significant regional and global developments, underscoring the need for unified international stances in support of the two-state solution.
