Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will partake in a special prayer for rainfall at the Al Wajbah prayer ground on Sunday morning, around 6am.
He will join worshippers across the country in the istisqa prayer, which was called for by the nation’s Ministry of Awqaf (endowments) and Islamic Affairs.
Such prayers are common in the Muslim world, and follow in the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad, who used to ask God for rain when it was lacking.
Though the Qatar Meteorology Department had forecast rain for the northern parts of Qatar last week, it does not expect to see any precipitation in the coming 10 days, a meteorologist told Doha News.
He added, however, that there is a slight chance of rain on the 14th.
Thoughts?
The trolls will have a feeding frenzy with story 😉
Yes. Even before reading comments I just Ctrl + F “MIMH” and was not disappointed 🙂
It’s a nice cultural tradition, nothing wrong with that. I don’t see why anyone would object to such a ceremony, it doesn’t hurt anyone
ROFL, you’re mean :p
Don’t these cultural traditions pre date Islam and are pagan in origin?
