In a post on Truth Social, U.S President Donald Trump said that an agreement between the United States, Iran and other countries had been “largely negotiated”, with final details still under discussion.
Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani participated on Saturday in a joint telephone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, Arab and regional leaders.
In an official statement on Sunday, Amiri Diwan said that phone call included Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Jordan’s King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, the UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
The call also included Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Syed Asim Munir.
According to the Amiri Diwan, the call covered current regional and international developments amid escalating security and political challenges. The leaders exchanged views on containing tensions and preventing their spread, which poses a threat to the region’s security and stability.
Sheikh Tamim, during the call, emphasised on the importance of intensifying consultations and coordination among relevant countries regarding various developments, in order to contribute to strengthening regional and international stability.
“His Highness stressed that reaching diplomatic solutions is the best way to address crises and spare the region the repercussions of escalation and its impact on regional peace and security,” said the statement.
Trump confirmed on Saturday that he held talks with several regional leaders — including Qatar’s Amir and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani — on Iran and ongoing peace efforts.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that an agreement between the United States and Iran had been “largely negotiated”, with final details still under discussion.
Trump added that he also spoke separately with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed. Separately, I had a call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, which, likewise, went very well,” Trump wrote.
Donald Trump also confirmed that the final aspects and details of the deal are currently being discussed and will be announced shortly.
In addition to numerous other provisions in the agreement, Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open.
Trump has not given any further details on the deal.
Amiri Diwan said that during the call, leaders expressed their thanks and appreciation to the U.S. President for his coordination and consultations among all concerned parties to maintain regional and international peace and security, while also commending the diplomatic efforts undertaken by Pakistan in this regard.
