Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani joined hundreds of mourners at funeral prayers in Doha for the six martyrs killed in Israel’s terror attack on the Qatari capital.
Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has joined mourners at the funeral prayers of the six victims of Israel’s attack on Doha.
Hundreds of mourners gathered at the Imam Abdul Wahhab Mosque in the Qatari capital on Thursday to bid farewell to the victims, which included five Palestinians and 22-year-old Corporal Bader Al-Humaidi Al-Dosari, a member of Qatar’s Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya).
Some of the top Qatari officials at the prayers included Qatar’s Minister of Interior, Commander of ISF (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir’s Representative Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, the president of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
The bodies of the martyrs were then transferred to their final resting place in Mesaimeer Cemetery, where Sheikh Tamim was also present.
Israel carried out the shocking attack on the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday, targeting a residential building housing members of Hamas’s negotiating team. The building is located in the heart of a residential neighbourhood that also has embassies and schools.
Israel said it attempted to target chief negotiator Khalil Al-Hayya, among other members of the negotiating team. However, the attack killed five lower-rank Hamas members, including Al-Hayya’s son, Humam.
Qatari authorities announced on Wednesday that they found human remains at the site of the attack while searching for two missing people.
Qatar has condemned the attack on its territory and described it as “state terror” while slamming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “barbaric action”.
Netanyahu has also threatened to launch another attack on Qatar if the Hamas members remain in the country, despite their presence in the country came at a U.S. request for mediation purposes.
The Israeli prime minister is wanted by the International Criminal Court for his crimes in the Gaza Strip amid the genocide that has persisted for nearly two years.
Netanyahu has also led an anti-Qatar campaign over the past year despite the Gulf state’s crucial efforts that led to the release of at least 140 Israeli captives from Hamas.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has killed at least 64,656 people, mainly women and children, in the Gaza Strip, with thousands still trapped under the rubble. The actual figure is believed to be much higher, with thousands still trapped under the rubble.
