In a significant moment for cultural diplomacy, the book Qatar Through the Eyes of Travelers was officially unveiled in Abuja on Monday, as part of a broader cultural event celebrating literary and historical exchange between Nigeria and Qatar.
The launch, held in Nigeria’s capital, featured the presence of Nigerian Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa alongside the book’s author Qatar’s Ambassador to Nigeria Ali Ghanim Al Hajri, senior officials and prominent cultural figures
Originally written in Arabic “Qatar Through the Eyes of Travelers” has now been translated into five of Nigeria’s major languages, making it accessible to a wide Nigerian audience.
The book offers a unique perspective on Qatar’s history, traditions, and transformation, as seen through the accounts of foreign travelers over the years.
Musawa praised the publication as a testament to growing cultural cooperation between Nigeria and Qatar. She commended the effort to translate the work into multiple Nigerian languages, calling it a meaningful step toward cross-cultural understanding and exchange.
The event also featured the launch of another key title, The Federal Republic of Nigeria: A Journey Through History, Identity, and Culture, which delves deeply into Nigeria’s historical roots, ethnic diversity, and political evolution.
Musawa described it as one of the most notable recent works on Nigerian identity and heritage.
The dual book launch highlighted not only Nigeria’s own rich cultural tapestry but also the strengthening cultural ties between the two nations, with literature serving as a bridge for dialogue and mutual appreciation.
