Qatar has opened a new departures terminal at the Doha International Airport ahead of the busy summer travel season.
Some 30 different carriers will now operate out of Terminal B, formerly the arrivals terminal.
The current departure terminal, Terminal A, will remain a hub for Qatar Airways.
The airport has also launched a snazzy new website and enabled mobile flight updates.
In other airport news, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker said iris scanning could cut immigration queues.
“Once iris scan facility becomes fully operational, I don’t think their passports will be checked,” al-Baker told the Gulf Times. “This is because the iris scan will show whether it is okay for a passenger to exit or enter the country. All the information will already be in the database.”
Travelers, what do you think of the new terminal? Has traffic congestion fallen at the airport?
