Qatar Chamber has joined global labour talks in Geneva as the International Labour Conference brings together representatives from the ILO’s 187 member states.
Qatar Chamber is taking part in the 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva, joining global talks that bring together governments, employers and workers from the International Labour Organization’s 187 member states.
The conference, which runs from June 1 to 12, is discussing key labour issues, including decent work, social dialogue and the future of employment in a changing global economy.
Qatar Chamber’s delegation includes Nasser Ahmed Al Meer, Adviser to the Chairman for Labour Affairs and Qatar’s employers’ representative, Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Director of Legal Affairs, and Hamad Ali Al Marri, Director of Committees and Business Councils Affairs.
Representing Qatar’s employers, the chamber highlighted how rapid technological change and digital transformation are reshaping labour markets and increasing the need for stronger investment in human capital.
The delegation said future-ready skills and training will be essential to support economic growth, improve competitiveness and prepare workers for new professions emerging from digital change.
It also highlighted the need for employers to modernise work environments and adopt innovative solutions to address future labour market challenges and reduce the risk of unemployment.
Qatar Chamber also praised efforts to strengthen cooperation between governments, employers and workers, while supporting the exchange of expertise and best practices to promote sustainable development and decent job opportunities.
The chamber reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of the International Labour Organization and expressed support for Palestinian workers, particularly in Gaza, calling for greater international action to protect their right to work and live with dignity.
