As Qatar residents resist turning on their air conditioning units despite rising temperatures this month, the Qatar Meteorology Department has said that summer is still a few months off.
March and April are technically the “Spring” months in Qatar, a forecaster at the MET told Doha News.
Over the past few weeks, temperatures have creeped into the 30Cs (~80Fs) during the day and are expected to continue rising gradually over the next few months. But the evenings are still a relatively cool period, with minimum temperatures in the high teens and low 20Cs (~70Fs).
Two months left
Summer should strike around May, the forecaster added, when temperatures are expected to jump into the 40Cs (~100Fs).
Last year, the mercury hit a high of 42C (108F) in late April, 3 to 6 degrees higher than the previous year due to an “Indian Monsoon.”
The government offers one suggestion on how to take advantage of this fleeting weather:
With the beautiful current weather, take the opportunity to book a camp and enjoy it with your family #Hukoomi #Qatar ow.ly/j2F6b
What are your plans over the next few months before summer hits?
