Tuesday’s meeting emphasised the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, as well as the entry of crucial aid into Gaza.
A senior delegation from the Palestinian group Hamas met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Intelligence Minister Ibrahim Kalin in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday.
According to the group’s official Telegram account, the meeting focused on the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.
The Hamas delegation was led by Muhammad Darwish, head of the group’s leadership council, and included Political Bureau members Khaled Mashal, Zaher Jabarin, Nizar Awadallah, and Sami Khater.
According to a statement issued by Hamas, the delegation discussed the current status of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, highlighting what they described as repeated Israeli violations.
The group cited delays in opening the Rafah border crossing and restrictions on humanitarian aid as key concerns.
Darwish reiterated Hamas’s stated commitment to maintaining the ceasefire despite what the group says are ongoing breaches by Israel.
He called for immediate efforts to deliver aid, repair infrastructure, and begin reconstruction in Gaza.
He also reaffirmed Hamas’s political stance on Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with the occupied East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Hamas statement expressed appreciation for Turkish diplomatic efforts and commended President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for what it described as support for the Palestinian cause.
It also urged broader involvement from Arab and Islamic nations in supporting the people of Gaza.
In remarks reported following the meeting, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s opposition to the Israeli military campaign in Gaza and called for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
He emphasised the need to resume humanitarian aid deliveries and begin reconstruction efforts without delay.
Intelligence Minister Kalin echoed this position, citing Türkiye’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to help sustain the ceasefire and ease humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
